{"id":5337,"date":"2022-02-24T16:51:31","date_gmt":"2022-02-24T15:51:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/technische-uebersetzungen-eva-schwarz.de\/?page_id=5337"},"modified":"2025-03-05T11:36:19","modified_gmt":"2025-03-05T10:36:19","slug":"translation-projects","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/technische-uebersetzungen-eva-schwarz.de\/en\/credentials\/translation-projects\/","title":{"rendered":"Translation Projects"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Translation Projects<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>In the following, I would like to present a few translation and localisation projects in more detail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"DC-SoftwareWebsite\">Translation of product presentations for the relaunch of the DC by ALLPLAN website<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In May 2023, the provider of software solutions for soil engineering <a class=\"two\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dc-software.com\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">DC-Software<\/a> (<a class=\"two\" href=\"https:\/\/www.allplan.com\/us_en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ALLPLAN GmbH<\/a> since 2024) decided to relaunch the corporate website. In the framework of this project, the Munich-based company entrusted me with the translation of all product texts of the two product ranges <a class=\"two\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dc-software.com\/products?tx_dcshop_dcshopfrontend%5Baction%5D=show&amp;tx_dcshop_dcshopfrontend%5Bcontroller%5D=Artikelliste&amp;tx_dcshop_dcshopfrontend%5Bshopmenue%5D=3&amp;cHash=2243666b5199b5a2bd7598a49889d8d2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Foundation Engineering<\/a> and <a class=\"two\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dc-software.com\/products?tx_dcshop_dcshopfrontend%5Baction%5D=show&amp;tx_dcshop_dcshopfrontend%5Bcontroller%5D=Artikelliste&amp;tx_dcshop_dcshopfrontend%5Bshopmenue%5D=1&amp;cHash=040d98a222aca0283b37fbdbbdc7e6c7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Soil Mechanics<\/a>. To ensure consistency with existing content, it was important to comply with the terminology used so far and to match the new texts to the existing ones. The translation project comprised 31 texts in the Foundation Engineering range and 33 texts in the Soil Mechanics range. In 2022, the company decided to redesign the corporate website. In the context of our long-standing collaboration, I was involved in this modernisation as a specialist translator. I translated the newly designed product pages of the sections <a class=\"two\" href=\"https:\/\/www.frilo.eu\/en\/product-category\/calculate-components-from-steel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Steel<\/a>, <a class=\"two\" href=\"https:\/\/www.frilo.eu\/en\/product-category\/components-from-reinforced-concrete\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Reinforced Concrete<\/a>, <a class=\"two\" href=\"https:\/\/www.frilo.eu\/en\/product-category\/calculate-components-from-timber\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Timber &amp; Roof<\/a>, <a class=\"two\" href=\"https:\/\/www.frilo.eu\/en\/product-category\/foundation-soil-analysis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Foundation Engineering &amp; Foundations<\/a>, <a class=\"two\" href=\"https:\/\/www.frilo.eu\/en\/product-category\/components-from-masonry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Masonry<\/a>, and <a class=\"two\" href=\"https:\/\/www.frilo.eu\/en\/product-category\/lastprogramme-en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Load<\/a> into English. The project comprised 82 product texts with a volume of over 33,000 words and was completed in seven batches from April to August 2022. The company chose <a class=\"two\" href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WordPress<\/a> as its content management system, and the English version was realised with the help of WPML.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was entrusted with the review of the German texts and the translation of these texts into English. This time, I decided to translate the texts online using the Advanced Editor provided by the <a class=\"two\" href=\"https:\/\/wpml.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WPML plug-in<\/a>. The web designer and I considered this solution to be more dynamic and future-proof than exporting and re-importing the texts which often involves time-consuming post-editing work. However, quality assurance in this translation project was far more difficult than with the traditional translation environment tools, as only rudimentary functions are available online for this task. The company has been developing software for structural calculation and design for 45 years and offers a wide range of products. In the framework of this cooperation, I have translated online help texts, software manuals and product presentations for structural analysis programs into English. In cooperation with a colleague whose mother tongue is French, we translated the content of the comprehensively revised website with its new responsive design, including PDFs for download. The texts were checked by four-eye proofreaders after translation. This book presents the essential learning field contents of electrical engineering, lighting engineering, electronics and information technology.
